Spanish Teams
FOOTBALL – With Sevilla FC winning the Europa League final, they have automatically qualified for the 2015/2016 Champions League group stage, making it the fourth Spanish side among the 22 teams already qualified for next season’s CL main tournament.
- If Valencia CF successfully negotiate the qualifying stages, they will become the fifth Spanish representative in the 2015/2016 CL main tournament. This would be unprecedented. No country has ever been represented by five teams in one CL season.
- In 2005/2006, England was presented with a chance to send five through as holders Liverpool, who had domestically finished outside the top 4 were placed in the 1st qualifying round. The Anfield side managed to survive three qualifying rounds and reach the group stage, but another English side, Everton, did not manage to get past the qualifying rounds.
- Twenty-two teams have now sealed their CL group stage berth for next season with another 10 teams to join them through the qualifying stages.
