The World Cup inevitably shifts the power in international soccer, and the newest FIFA rankings dictate that global footballing change. Here are the top 15 after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The U.S. National Team was successful in the World Cup run solely by exiting group stage. It was not enough to help their FIFA ranking, however, as they dropped from 13th to 15th.

14. Italy

Italy bowed out of the World Cup a lot earlier than expected. That was properly reflected in their FIFA ranking as they dropped five spots from 9th to 14th.

13. Greece

Greece were one of the teams that surprised many by exiting group stage. They did well enough in the World Cup to move up one spot in FIFA rankings from 14th to 13th.

Chile were rather successful in the World Cup, only losing in the Round of 16 because of penalty kicks. They were one of the teams to actually move up in the FIFA rankings from 14th to 12th.

11. Portugal

Portugal were yet another team to bow out earlier than expected in the World Cup. They were one of the teams to drop the most in FIFA rankings, falling down seven spots from 4th to 11th.

10. France

France did not get as far as they hoped in the World Cup, but they did make quite the impression. France made a huge leap in FIFA rankings by moving up seven spots from 17th to 10th.

Switzerland were able to make it out of group stage, but then they faced Argentina who knocked them out of the World Cup. That was only a slight blow for the Swiss, falling three spots from 6th to 9th.

8. Spain

Spain's loss in group stage was one of the biggest shocks of the World Cup. Their new FIFA ranking is a direct reflection of it, as Spain went from being 1st to 8th, dropping seven spots.

7. Brazil

Brazil did well in the World Cup until the last two matches. They took a big hit in FIFA rankings by dropping four spots from 3rd to 7th place.

6. Uruguay

Uruguay were carried in the World Cup by star Luis Suarez. After his departure because of his biting incident, Uruguay were knocked out of the tournament. However, they moved up in FIFA rankings. It was only a move from 7th to 6th, but that's better than dropping.
